2019 has been a challenge in every sense of the word. In some ways it’s been an amazing year, It’s been pretty much constantly terrifying, and has also pushed me to my limits personally, professionally, and creatively, more times than I can count (and certainly more than you want to hear about…)
2019 marks the first year of my marriage to my incredible husband, Dan. I think it’s fair to say that it has been the most difficult year of our 8 year relationship but we made it out, stronger than ever and with a better understanding of how to be there for each other through the most trying of times. At the end of this year (December 15th) we’ve celebrated our anniversary in the hotel we were married in and by revisiting our first date, hanging out with the elephants at Chester Zoo. With a little luck, and a following wind, 2020 will begin with us buying our very own home – a new beginning if ever there was one. In October we’re taking a trip to Greece (side note - I’ve made a bet that if I learn Greek he has to take me scuba diving so any help there would be very much appreciated… It’s a whole new alphabet for god’s sake!!) If you’re reading this (and I know you are because you proof read everything for me) I’m so proud of you, you’ve come through more this year than lots of people have to deal with in their entire lives, despite that you’ve pushed me to follow my dreams and supported me every step of the way, you’ve made a real difference to people that you will never meet because you refused to give in when the world was trying to break you- you’re my inspiration and my hero.
2019 has also been the first year that I’ve been in business… the business of photography to be precise. I’ve met some absolutely incredible people, been to some beautiful weddings. I’ve helped fix wardrobe malfunctions, done up dresses, cried at father daughter dances, photographed brides with owls and played pick up the make up brush with the most adorable baby I’ve ever seen. I’ve traveled all over the country, worked a few 17 hour days, gone months without a day off and shared more of myself than I was comfortable doing (with anybody other than my husband.)It’s been tough and there were days when all I wanted to do was sleep for several weeks but I’ve loved every second of it and can’t wait to do more of it in 2020.
In the coming year , I’m looking forward to meeting more amazing couples and going on some more adventures. As far as new years resolutions go, I’m going to update this blog, at least once a month (not like this year… Oops…) I’m going to get to know some photographers and other wedding suppliers in my area and hopefully collaborate with some of them, last but certainly not least – I’m going to learn Greek… (and go scuba diving)
Thank you to all my wonderful couples who have trusted me to capture your wedding/christening/events. I feel truly privileged to have had the opportunity to get to know all of you.
For now, to everybody who’s stuck with me this far – Happy new year! I hope 2020 is everything that you hope for.
Here’s a selection of my favourite photos from this year. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Beautiful photos, capturing memories of those little moments that are often missed. This shows your talent and good eye. Love the blog, made me cry, however, shows how sensitive, dedicated and caring you are.
